TWO FREE SUPPLEMENTARY GOLD CARDS

Apply for up to two free Supplementary Gold Cards1 for your partner, a family member or close friend. Previously, this benefit cost R100 per Card. If you already have Supplementary Cards on your Gold account, the first two will automatically be free.

You could choose to have one of your free Supplementary Cards in your own name as a Secondary Card1. Doing so allows you to conveniently separate your different types of spend, such as business and personal, or travel and day-to-day.

FREE PERSONAL TRAVEL CARD

Apply for your free linked Personal Travel Card1 which is lodged exclusively at our Concierge and Travel Service, enabling you to book flights without having to present your primary Card in person.

YEAR END SUMMARY

At the end of each tax year, you will receive a year-end summary, which is a consolidated and categorised view of the annual expenditure across all your Cards.

NO PRE-SET SPENDING LIMIT

Your Gold Charge Card has no pre-set spending limit. You have the flexibility to manage your account according to your needs. You set your own spending limit through your ongoing spend patterns and your ability to pay the full outstanding balance on your account each month.

INTEREST FREE PERIOD

You receive up to 55 days interest-free credit on most purchases (excludes cash withdrawals, casino transactions and travellers cheques), provided your account is paid in full. If you default on a monthly payment, interest is charged from the day of purchase not from the date you defaulted.

BUDGET FACILITY

Spread your unusually large transactions over a period of 6-24 months by charging the purchase to your budget facility.

OTHER FINANCIAL BENEFITS

Eligibility

We welcome you to apply for the American Express Gold Charge Card, providing the following criteria are met:

  • You are over 18 years of age;
  • You have a good credit rating;
  • You are a South African resident; and
  • You have an annual income of R200,000 or more.
