Minimum payment of 5% per month
You have the choice of paying your outstanding balance on your Gold Credit Card in full or settling only the minimum of 5% monthly. For ease of payment and your convenience sign up for an automatic payment order today, as it is more cost-effective than paying by cash or cheque.
Local and global acceptance
Your Gold Credit Card is accepted wherever you see the American Express sign either locally or in over 200 countries internationally. Throughout South Africa your Credit Card is accepted at over 60 000 merchants, including retail establishments such as Pick n Pay, Woolworths, Shoprite Checkers, Edgars and the Spar Group. You can also use your Gold Credit Card at a range of other merchants including niche boutiques, hotels, restaurants and many more, who will gladly accept your Credit Card.
Budget facility
For ease and convenience we offer a budget facility for larger-than-normal purchases (amount over R300), which you can pay off over 3, 6, 12, 24 or 36 months.
Online banking
For a nominal fee you have access to balance and transaction enquiries online, 24 hours a day.
Dispute resolution
When a legitimate dispute arises, the item being questioned is set aside and you pay the balance of the account. Finance charges are not raised on items American Express agrees to place on dispute until resolved.
'CHIP & PIN' Cards
American Express issues 'CHIP & PIN' Cards for all American Express products. Your Gold Credit Card will require a PIN, which will ensure that your Gold Credit Card transactions are safer and more secure.
Payment Protection Plan
The Credit Card Payment Protection Plan is a dynamic insurance policy that covers your outstanding Gold Credit Card balance or part thereof, up to R150 000.
Balance transfer
You have the option of transferring your card debt incurred on a store card or credit card held at another financial institution to your Gold Credit Card. This is at a preferential debit interest rate.

Travel insurance
Purchase your travel tickets on your Gold Credit Card and both you and your family are covered, locally and internationally. Optional comprehensive topup cover is available at a discounted rate.
Emergency cash
In the event that you need additional cash while overseas, your Gold Credit Card entitles you to emergency cash. You can withdraw cash from over 800 000 ATMs around the world. In addition, present your American Express Credit Card at any American Express Travel or Foreign Exchange Office and you can withdraw up to $ 1000 per billing cycle.

You can apply for free Supplementary Gold Credit Cards for family, friends or a partner.

Lost and stolen American Express Cards
As an American Express Gold Credit Cardmember you will not be held liable for any fraudulant transactions on your Credit Card once it has been reported as lost or stolen. Call 0800 110 929.
